Will be in Anaheim for business convention/seminar Mar 8 - Mar 11. No Disney or family, so not too stringent on accomodations, but want to save my company a few $$ vs staying at the Hyatt-Orange County at 11999 Harbor Blvd. Reviews and description of the Courtyard just up the road (2045 S.Harbor - 2/3 mle away)seem pretty decent. Courtyard%26#39;s site shows single KingBd room rate (AAA rate) of $98 before tax. Opinions?
ALSO: Since I%26#39;m flying into Ontario airport and arriving at 8:40-ish Sunday night, I was debating simply staying in Ontario that night at (presumably) a cheaper rate (but not sure how much cheaper a reasonable hotel could be vs $98 pre-tax) and then staying in Anaheim Mon+Tues nights . Illogical ? Would I be setting myself up for a nightmare Mon morn drive from Ontario to Anaheim (needing to be at the Hyatt by 8am Monday for start of seminars) ? A little concerned about all the horror stories of Cali commutes. Would it make better sense to make the late drive into Anaheim Sunday night and just stay there?
THANKS FOR ANY GUIDANCE !!!
Anaheim hotel - appreciate your insights
Courtyards are a nice place to stay while in California; I have stayed in several (not this one) and have found each of them fine stays. For $98.00 I think you will enjoy staying there. If you stay here, I would definitely do the drive Sunday night. There is little traffic on the freeways and it will be a quick drive. Ontario Airport is user friendly; you do need to take a shuttle bus to pick up your car - frequently runs; pick up the car; and you can quickly get on the freeway for your drive to Anaheim. Work traffic is from 5-9 a.m. (and the closer to 7 to 9 time period the worst....generarlly stop and go and stop and go and stop and go...rather sluggish). I would just make the drive Sunday night and you will be a much happier person on Monday.
Anaheim hotel - appreciate your insightsYes, the drive will be a breeze on Sunday night and a nightmare on Monday morning. Check the rates at Holiday Inn Express and Hilton Garden Inn in Garden Grove as both are decent, and not far from the Hyatt. Homewood Suites is another one to check. You might also check Hyatt.com for any specials, in this economy they might be offering a better special than they%26#39;ve offered to the conventiongoers. Hyatt might have a hefty parking charge however.
Thanks a lot for the tips. I%26#39;ll do the drive in Sunday night......the ';stop-and-go, stop-and-go'; description was the clincher.
hoyvenon,
I have stayed at both of your potential choices for hotels. Both are very nice. The Hyatt will give you a more upscale hotel feel, while the Courtyard is a nice middle of the road hotel. If saving money is more important that getting up and going straight into your seminar, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Courtyard
As far as your Sunday night versus Monday morning question, definitely drive to Anaheim Sunday night. You won%26#39;t really save any money and will have to get up very early Monday morning to drive into Anaheim. The drive Sunday night will only take you about half an hour once you get on the freeway.
