Hi,
Staying at the Marriott San Diego Hotel and Marina. Where is a really nice seafood restaurant for us to have our first nights meal in America. We all love seafood and would like a good start to the holiday.
Thanks

Hi, its me again.
You have several options that I would recommend. All are walking distance from your hotel.
Top of the Market and Fish Market are in the same building on the G Street Mole. There is an excellent walkway along the bayfront from your hotel to this location. It will take you in front of the hyper-touristic Seaport Village and provide stunning views of the bay.
Top of the Market is upstairs, higher end and much more white table cloth in approach than Fish Market (downstairs). Top of the Market will provide excellent meal and beautiful views. I am not a fan of Fish Market. It tends to be more crowded, rushed, the food is solid but nothing fantastic and views can be disappointing depending on where you are seated.
Further along the Embarcadero is Anthony%26#39;s Fish Market. This is a San Diego institution. Again, not a big fan of this place. The price is reasonable and the quality is good but it is not very creative from a gourmand%26#39;s perspective.
Across the street and railroad tracks from your hotel is the entertainment district called Gaslamp. When I think of seafood, I think of a restaurant called The Oceanaire. It is in this area of town -- again very easy walking distance. I like Oceanaire because of the variety -- the menu changes daily. Highlights on freshest items. There is no view in this restaurant. It is on the second floor of a residential building. Food quality and service is very high. Price matches.
Two more local offerings with seafood: Blue Point California Cuisine on Market and Fifth in the Gaslamp. Very nice menu with some emphasis on Baja California flavorings. High end in terms of price. Service and food quality very high. Seating tends to be a bit tight for my preference. I use this restaurant for business meals and it always gets good reaction from out of towners. Ground level in the middle of the Gaslamp, no view except people watching.
Finally, I would suggest also Candelas -- a high style Mexican restaurant. I don%26#39;t think they would call themselves a fish restaurant but they have several nice main dishes that feature fish. Again on the pricey side.

At some point in your visit you might take the ferry over to Coronado. If you do, try the Brigantine. The fish tacos on the lunch menu are a local favorite but most everything we%26#39;ve tried there has been good.

1500 Ocean at the Hotel Del Coronado has some nice seafood entrees. :)
I%26#39;ll second Oceanaire. Excellet.
Also, on the property of the Marriott and with a lovely view of the Marina is Roy%26#39;s. Not really a seafood restaurant - it is Hawaiian fusion - BUT, I have never, ever had anything less than superb seafood at Roy%26#39;s...and if you get lucky and they have Opakapaka on the menu... it is to die for.
For an inexpensive seafood restaurant I would also reccomend Brigantine in Point Loma or in Coronado.
For a higher budget seafood restaurant Oceanaire gets some of the best reviews for a seafood restaurant in San Diego.
Our favorite seafood restaurant, when staying in that part of San Diego, is the Top of the Market, seated out on the patio. Excellent food, views and service.
One thing we like to do for fun is take a Pedi cab from the hotel to the restaurant. They are all over the area, cheap and easy to catch.
Oceanaire is the best. Good service, great food, fantastic crab cakes, wonderful martinis.
