Cheesecake Factory and shopping

Hi,

I know it%26#39;s a chain, but I hear the the view from the Cheesecake Factory terrace is really nice.

I understand they give you a buzzer when you arrive, and the buzzer goes off when your table is ready. My question - can you wander around Macy%26#39;s and shop while waiting, and return the the restaurant when the buzzer goes off? If that%26#39;s the case, I could easily kill the wait time wandering around.

Thanks

Can you shop while waiting? yes, however know that the elevators in Macy%26#39;s are very slow so use the escalators. You can be standing there waiting for an elevator for anywhere between 10-15 minutes. I don%26#39;t know if the Cheesecake Factory is accessible by escalator so plan your path back to the restaurant before you sign-in to wait for a table. Not all tables have a view, be very specific when you request a table.

The view is really nice here, yes you can shop while waiting for your table at Cheesecake Factory. Go for the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert here, especailly if you%26#39;re a chocolate lover.

Happy New Year and enjoy your time in San Francisco! :)

Just what I needed to know. I just can%26#39;t stand waiting in line.

By the way syrahgirl, I had planned on the chocolate. I may have to ask for it ';to-go';, but I%26#39;ll definitely try it.

Thanks

Maybe they have different pagers at the Union Square Cheesecake Factory, but the range of those at the one closest to where I live doesn%26#39;t extend much beyond the restaurant%26#39;s front door. I wouldn%26#39;t count on being able to shop while waiting for your table.

Most of the tables do not have a view. Not sure of the range on the pagers. I know they work at least one floor down. Consider ordering a drink and taking it outside on the terrace, while you wait. You can stand overlooking Union Square. There is a ledge for your drink. The bar itself is pretty small, with no view. In fact, have a drink, then eat at someplace that has better food. I always find the food pretty mediocre, and the long wait is not really rewarded. Huge portions, though.

Not sure whether it would be wise to shop whilst you wait for the table.

But to get the views there is a vatage point at the terrace but there is a line for that as well.

I just thought I%26#39;d suggest another place if you care about a view and that is Slanted Door; food will be better than at the Cheesecake Factory. See the reviews listed on Yelp

yelp.com/biz/the-slanted-door-san-francisco…

and it is in the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street so you%26#39;ll have a view of the bay.

I don%26#39;t want to be a downer, but my brother and his GF got really really sick eating at cheesecake factory. They both had their chicken and ended up in the hospital with IVs for food poising. I hope they have cleaned up their act.

There are a lot more better places that aren%26#39;t the standard chain and overpriced at this place.

Nice list, ObsidianSnow. Thanks.

Wow! I%26#39;ve heard some grumbling about Cheesecake Factory wait times, but never a serious issue with the food quality. I%26#39;m guessing food poisoning is a very rare happening in their restaurants.
