Hey, my girlfriend and I will be taking a trip to SF / Napa at the end of March Saturday to Saturday. We will be staying in SF for the first few nights, then to Napa for two nights (Tuesday/Wednesday) then back to SF for the weekend before we leave. What we are not sure about is which area to stay in between Napa and Yountville. We are thinking about staying at the River Terrace Inn in Napa because it was very affordable and had good reviews. Is this a good place to stay? Should I be looking in Yountville instead? We want to visit a bunch of wineries and do tastings for the 2 days we will be there. Any info would be appreciated.. thanks.
Trip to San Fran / Napa - which area to stay in?

We see this is your first post-- welcome to the forums! :)
Lots of great reviews (and fans) here for dozens of wonderful properties. Those who have stayed in Yountville are often a bit more vocal on these forums, but you%26#39;ll find tons of trip reports (use the forum search function, keywords ';trip report';) and you%26#39;ll see that folks stay in all of the towns here in the Valley, from Napa all the way up to Calistoga
Have you had a chance to read through TripAdvisor%26#39;s Napa FAQs?

2. Hotel, Motel, B%26amp;B-- Where Should I Stay?
3. Best Airports?
4. Best Town to Stay In? .How about Restaurants?
5. How to TASTE WINE (without getting snoggered! :)
6. Best way to get around? (Car, Limo, Bike?)

A lot of what the FAQs cover is the overall ';vibe'; of going to Napa for a few days-- what it feels like, how important it is to talk to the locals (we all love to help fellow travelers), and how to do a few things that can make for a very memorable trip (hint: One of them is calling a few of the places you want to stay and chatting for 5 min w/the innkeepers-- you will be amazed at how 1 or 2 spots just ';click'; for you, and the others do not).
Hoping this info helps-- ooh, one last thing-- since your trip is to both SF and Napa, if you want to save a few hundred bucks, look at staying in SF on Saturday nights, as they often have lots more rooms avail (business travelers are gone), and many of the popular inns in Napa tend to have *much* better pricing midweek (Sun-Thurs).
Have a wonderful trip! :)

Trip to San Fran / Napa - which area to stay in?
Thanks for the info.. I read through the FAQ%26#39;s so far. That is exactly what i%26#39;m doing between SF/Napa - Going to stay in napa for tuesday and wednesday nights.
River Terrace Inn is a wonderful hotel just outside of the downtown area in Napa. They are right on the river and do a great breakfast that is included in the price. There is a trolley that will take you to the downtown area, oxbow, and the outlet stores. Their honor bar and room service are also very reasonable.
Have a great trip!
Segway Napa
The distance between Napa (the south end of the valley) and Calistoga (the north end) is less than 30 miles, I think. Most of the popular wineries are clustered in Rutherford, Yountville, and St. Helena which are in the middle of the valley. I think where ever you stay in the valley will be central.
