Is it fairly safe to walk to the Staples Center?

I%26#39;m walking from Main and 7th, or thats the plan, as parking will probably be bad? Anyways, I%26#39;m not from around there and would like advice if its a safe area to walk in, in the afternoon...

Is it fairly safe to walk to the Staples Center?

Perfectly safe however, there is no problem driving to Staples or taking public transit.

Is it fairly safe to walk to the Staples Center?

Is there a reason on why 7th/main as that corner is anything but nice nor would i park my car there even in the daytime.

HSJ, you probably were thinking of 7th/figuera which is fine to walk to Staples from. 7th/main is the area by the Cecil Hotel(low cost residential hotel) and that corner is notorious for drugdealers and dealings

Where will you be staying? I am sure we could suggest a better option for you to consider if you do not want to park by Staples

It depends which route you take. If you walk down Figueroa (the street that the Staples Center is on), it%26#39;s perfectly safe, especially after the game/event as there will be tons of people around. The area around 7th and Main is OK, but you probably will encounter some homeless people. That%26#39;s also quite a long walk. About 10-11 blocks.

The blocks there are quite long and yes, you%26#39;ll probably be asked for money by at least several homeless people on the way. It really depends on what you consider ';safe';. I wouldn%26#39;t walk there in the dark and alone if there aren%26#39;t many other people around. You can also just take a cab. It%26#39;s a short ride. Where are you walking from?

I would stay away from 7th %26amp; Main, particularly at night. I think there is adequate parking at or very near Staples or is there some reason that there won%26#39;t be?

The homelesspeople on 7th/main are different than homelesspeople in Hollywood or Santa Monica. Please trust me on this, they are crackheads. I had friends staying at the Cecil Hotel and walking thru this area at night is no fun, parking your car there is just an invitation for trouble.

You could park at the garage at Macy%26#39;s Plaza on 7th/Fig and walk to staple or take the Blue Line for one stop

It is safe, just not especially pleasant. If 7th %26amp; Main is where you are staying, I would look in other areas, this one is pretty seedy.

Great! I%26#39;m staying at the Cecil, the reviews of it weren%26#39;t quite as bad as what I am hearing here now..... so some of you are like sure, its safe, others don%26#39;t want to drive through it... hmm.

Yes, do tell us why you are parking at 7th %26amp; Main to go to Staples Center. It seems unreasonably far from the arena. Certainly, not convenient. There is ample parking much closer to Staples and with many price points.

Actually, I think the area is perfectly safe in the daytime. I live nearby at Broadway %26amp; 9th. Main %26amp; 7th is at the crossroads of the Fashion District, Latino Broadway and the nearby Toy District. However, it is also on the edge or Skid Row. I%26#39;m not sure when Alex was last there. Policing activity has improved markedly in the past 18 months with dramatic results. However, legal skirmishing with the ACLU still threatens this progress. Before then, Skid Row had been for decades a pretty wild west drug dealing and using area. Still, it isn%26#39;t somewhere I%26#39;d recommend a tourist to hit, particularly if they were not familiar with the area.

If you are staying at the Cecil, no, you don%26#39;t want to stay there. The place has improved a lot, but it is still not ready for tourists. Alternate budget hotels in downtown are the Kawada, the Best Western in Chinatown and the Metro Plaza Hotel near Union Station.

HTH

It%26#39;s probably safe, but it%26#39;ll be unnerving. I wouldn%26#39;t do it and I wouldn%26#39;t stay at the Cecil either.
