Best way in to parade

Good Morning and happy new year, all!

We are attempting our first ever visit to the Rose Parade this time. We%26#39;ll be coming in on the 210 Eastbound. We have reserved seats and parking near Catalina %26amp; Colorado. I am concerned that the FWY will be gridlock, and am considering coming down Lake Ave from the north to avoid some of the FWY delay. Does that sound reasonable to anyone? Thanks for your help. I%26#39;m a little stressed about mixing it up with a million folks.

The closer you get to Pasadena the worse traffic is going to get on the freeway especially around the Lake exit. What I would do is get off the 210 before you get to Pasadena a good exit is Huntington Drive in the city of Monrovia and take the surface streets. If you drive West on Huntington Drive until you get to Oak Knoll Street where you can make a right, Oak Knoll Ave. will turn into Lake Ave. This should be faster; granted traffic will still be heavy and should be at least a 30 min drive once you get off the freeway to Pasadena but it beats sitting in gridlock for lord knows how long.

travelingirl,

Thank you for the update. I wasn%26#39;t around to catch it, so we went with our original plan. That was to drive to the Lake Ave. exit from the 210 East and exit to our parking space at Green and Catalina. We ran late and arrived at the offramp at 0610. There were 3 cars in front of us at the stoplight. We drove unobstructed to our parking spot, front row, anytime exit. In the end we were ready for the parade 2.75 hours early, UNREAL. Not what I expected. The 210 east was congested only at the first parade exit at Marengo, for the early parade seats. Thanks for the advice, anyhow!
