Scenic Spots in Downtown Sacramento

I am looking for scenic, preferrably fairly secluded spots in downtown Sacramento to go with my dates after dinner to just sit or stand around and talk.

I recently moved from Chicago. There were plenty of these spots (for example, old mid-rise buildings the roof of which you could climb if you wanted to and enjoy the view of a beautiful cityscape). Is there anything like this in downtown Sacramento (buildings, parking garages, etc)? Thank you!

As a side-note, this will normally take place at about 9:00 - 11:00 PM.

As to why I prefer this atmosphere to talking during dinner, as the name suggests, I am a hopeless romantic and find this to be a far better environment to discuss meaningful things with your date.

Scenic Spots in Downtown Sacramento

The top of the parking Garage at the west end of Downtown Plaza(enter off L St. after you pass the Plaza). It%26#39;s right across the pedestrian path on the south side of the Holiday Inn and looks over Old Sac.

Or, ask if you can see the terrace at the new Citizen Hotel at 10th %26amp; J

Walk around the capitol - there are other people there, but its a great place to walk around after dinner and see the capitol. We were there yesterday and enjoyed seeing the Christmas tree, looking in the windows, taking a walk around the grounds, and enjoying ourselves.

There are parking garages close to here such as the one close to the Hyatt Regency (directly across from the Old Capitol grounds.).

Lots of people also go to Old Town Sacramento and walk around after dinner. Walk across the bridge across the Sacramento River.

Sacramento however is way different than Chicago...so expect a different scene. We also stopped at Red Hawk Casino - nice view from the parking lot of the Sierras (not good at 9:00 - 11:00 at night) but a good view from the lot.

you can sit outside embassy suites and look at river or there%26#39;s some new bars that are rooftop- cosmopolitan cafe and i think the new mix

toncas is on the right track here. Next to the Embassy, on the south side of the riverfront park is a well lit but secluded area. There are several seating areas, and an interesting display of various streetlights that are in use in the downtown Sacramento area. We utilize this vantage for Fireworks displays from Raley Field, usually for New Years. It is on Front Street, with on-street angle parking available.

It would make sense that Sacramento%26#39;s biggest landmark, the river, has some of the nicest areas for sitting and contemplation.

Doesn%26#39;t anybody else think this is a little creepy? A person [guy?] asking about secluded spots to take a [presumably] female date at night?

';Hopeless romantic'; or not, I%26#39;d hope any girl is cautious with somebody who needs to discuss ';meaningful things'; in a parking garage rather than a nice restaurant!

I thought the same thing...
