Well we finally made it back out to Yountville last night and got a chance to see Michael%26#39;s new restaurant. Ambience is very warm and comforting, even the bar stools make you feel relaxed. Service at the bar area was a little slow but they recognize that and were pretty busy and did their best to get things out. Some things we noticed:
Wine List - Not overwhelming and very fairly priced. We got a nice bottle of Krug Pinot for around $36 which suited our palates by then just fine.
Food - Excellent! Thanks to Jeff who brought us some extra taste treats we did alot of dishes. Minestrone was out of this world, Rabbit Ragu Pasta unbelievable, Shrimp Appetizer very good, Fritto Misto was just fair, and grilled octopus was good, but not great. Main dish we shared the braised short ribs which I absolutely loved as it had a very smokey - barbq flavor to it.
Overall, this was one of the cheapest meals we have had in Yountville coming in at $150 total with tip which included 3 cocktails, soup, 2 appetizers, 1 entree, and 1 bottle of wine.
As always since opening Michael was there with big smiles and greeted everyone that smiled back. I got the priviledge of touring his restaurant with him as the guide about 3 weeks prior to opening and he even recalled that visit and asked what I thought of the final product. Great memory on his part.
And the stars of the Napa area are still present. Even ended up having a drink later with Carmen Policy and his wife.
Go see Michael - his food and the ambience make this a definite winner!
Bottega Restaurant
Thanks for posting. I was actually wondering if this restaurant ever opened since I didn%26#39;t see anything while researching in the internet.
