San Diego Rugby 7s

Hi

I%26#39;m looking to head over to the SD 7s in February - coming from England.

I%26#39;d appreciate some advice on which hotels to stay at. Looking for somewhere convenient for the rugby (Petco park?) and also the nighlife.

Thanks

Hi David, I suppose this will now be an annual event, the 7s and so we should probably learn a bit more about rugby.

YOu will have lots of hotel choices as Petco is downtown right by our gaslamp entertainment district.

www.gaslamp.org

This link will show hotels/restaurants etc nearby.

The area is a little over 3miles from the airport so an easy taxi ride or there%26#39;s a bus that you can take too.

I don%26#39;t know your price range for hotel but if you look around and cannot find something you like at the right price let us know.

The brand new 1,500 room Hilton Bayfront(not the Gaslamp Hilton, these are 2 different hotels) hotel is right across the street from Petco Park and has $139 room rates for certain dates in Feb. www.hilton.com

There isn%26#39;t really a need for a car around the Gaslamp/Petco Park area becuase everything is within a 1 mile radius of each other. Many of the downtown/gaslamp hotels charge $25-$30/per night for parking a car.

Have a good trip.

thanks so much, very helpful

My boss gets tickets to this every year and gives them to customers at his ship yard. We have a lot of International customers and they appreciate receiving them.

Hey David!

I%26#39;m a fellow ';Limey';, living in Chicago. Went to this last year, it%26#39;s a top trip! Stayed at the Hotel Sofia, think that%26#39;s on W Broadway, about 15 mins walk from the Gaslamp and Petco. Was a great spot and very reasonable, however I think they have hiked their prices this year.

My wife and I are doing it again this year, we are looking at staying in the Little Italy area, its a wee bit further away (about 20-25 mins walk) but it has some great B%26amp;B%26#39;s (The Little Italy Hotel is very reasonable), restaurants and an awesome bar called the Waterfront that is open at 6amish! The other trade off is that Little Italy is closer to the airport. The tram line runs from there down to the Gaslamp and stadium or taxis are dirt cheap if you don%26#39;t want to walk.

Hope this gives you some more ideas? See you there and COME ON ENGLAND!
