My husband and I are thinking about doing a 10 or 11-night trip to California next May. We would like to rent a car and stop at a few places along Hwy 1. Where would you recommend? Would we be able to do San Diego, LA and San Fran all in one trip? We would most likely fly into San Diego and out of San Fran or vice versa. Any other stops you would recommend along the way? Are we trying to cover too much ground in 12 days? Thanks for your advice.
Itinerary Help for Road Trip please! There are lots of possibilities .This trip is one of the most common ones and so lots of info is available by using the search function on this site. Everyone%26#39;s interests are just a bit different.
Do you want to see the sights in each city or just the countryside on the way?
Are you hikers?
Do you want to do some wine tasting?
Monterey Aquarium?
Hearst Castle?
theme parks like Disney?
You could easily spend a few days in each city and take a few more days for the drive from SanFrancisco to LA and south.
I think you have to figure out your priorities.
Itinerary Help for Road Trip please!Try to spend some time in Laguna Beach, there is lodging for all budgets on www.laguanbeach.com We have enjoyed stays at the Montage, Casa Laguna Inn and the Laguna Reef there. Happy New Year! :)
12 days is definitely doable. Places to stop along Hwy 1 - Newport Beach, Carpenteria State Beach, Santa Barbara Mission, Moro Bay, Cambria, Big Sir, Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Half Moon Bay, San Francisco, Marin Headlands, Bodega Bay, Muir Woods. I%26#39;m jealous - wish I had 12 days to spend driving up the coast - it%26#39;s a beautiful drive! Have fun
Don%26#39;t forget Solvang. A ';genuine'; Danish town in California.
