When to Go?

We%26#39;ve decided to go to San Diego in 2009 for our trip of the year! First off, what time of year should we head over? We probably will fly into San Francisco and then head down. We love being active outside and enjoy biking, hiking and other outdoor activities. Thanks in advance.

Can you really just pick a time and go? If so then September is a gorgeous month here and in San Francisco.

I would say the end of SEP or the beginning of OCT.

the weather is typically the best in early sept and it really slows down the begining of sept as well. by far the best month of the year to come to san diego. i would recommend the first part of the month to assure you can get some ocean time in. its nice to see all the AZ cars heading east for the winter too... j/k. not really :)

Weather is sunny and jut lovely in Sept all month and into October/first half. The ocean, which is cold all year, has gotten warm from the summer temps and so is still nice. San Francisco can always get a bit of fog so you still need to bring a layer for cool evening/early morning weather. Most of the families are back with kiddies at school so there are fewer tourists at that time too.

Agree, after Labor Day it is much more relaxed all down the coast and the chances of clear warm weather are good. I like earlier in September just because the days are still a bit longer, but into early October is also lovely.
