Fog and Alcatraz

Are Alcatraz tours ever canceled due to fog?

Fog and Alcatraz

Not to my knowledge.

Fog and Alcatraz

Thanks. Looking at a webcam image, it looks like you can%26#39;t see your hand in front of your face so I figured they might not allow boat travel in that weather kind of weather.

it%26#39;s even spookier in the fog!

Yes, it is way better in the fog.

Fog (and wind) are commonplace on San Francisco Bay, so nope, no cancellations!

My commute this morning was interesting; the fog was dense! I can see dense fog sitting right on the Bay even now. Must be fun visiting Alcatraz in this kind of weather, even if you can%26#39;t see the San Francisco skyline...

It all adds to the experience, the views you get looking back at the half hidden city skyline can be spectacular %26amp; has been said makes the night tour even spookier, colder too!

I%26#39;m a native born San Franciscan yet never been to ';Alcatraz'; .The Blue-Gold fleet takes you over from pier 41 .That used to be the routing for the Red-White fleet yet they lost the routing therefore Blue Gold Fleet is the sole Ferry/tour service to Alcatraz. They do have audio tours that come with the headphones then you can select the many languages that are offered for the non-English speaking visitors.

Cancelling a tour to Alcatraz because of ';fog'; is like cancelling a tour of the desert because of the ';heat';. :%26gt;)

My wife and I are planning a vacation trip to San Francisco. What is the best weather month?

Any month is a good month to visit San Francisco.

What are the months you are considering ?

The fog is part of the charm, mystery and character of The City and to experience it is to experience The City.

frankiam be aware that July/August can be surprisingly cold in San Francisco, also that you need to book Alcatraz in advance,it is worth it.
