Transportation to DT Area from Airport

I have an opportunity for 2 free nights at the Radisson located near the SFO airport. I am told that from the airport I could take the BART to downtown area for $6.00 each way. Does anyone know if this is the best way to do this? What would a taxi cost from the Radisson to the downtown area?

Also, once I get downtown.. Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf, the Pier, Golden Gate Bridge etc... that is all walkable correct?

It will just be me and my 12yr old daughter and I don%26#39;t want to drive anywhere.

here%26#39;s info on transportation from SFO:

bart will get you downtown, but it will not get you in walking distance to any of those locations; maybe the wharf but not the bridge. You%26#39;ll need to either take a taxi (easiest/cost the most) or muni (bus system here) or the cable cars (to the wharf area).

muni%26#39;s website: http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mhome/home50.htm -- has maps and info

you can also use 鈥?11.org/accessible/tripplanner/index.aspx and enter both your locations and it%26#39;ll give you the buses to take.

Everyone here will say, stay in SF rather than staying near the airport. It makes everything easier and give more of the SF experience. But you can make it work from SFO.. just takes some more effort!

Not sure exactly what a taxi to downtown area would cost you but I highly recommend BART - both reliable and reasonably priced

I%26#39;ve taken it from SFO to my accomodations last few times I%26#39;ve visited SF and it%26#39;s been good

Enjoy your stay

I would take Bart to the Embarcadero Station. you will get out at the foot of Market street, near the ferry building (great place to walk around). You can take a ferry to Sausalito or Tiburon from there. This is usually a hit with the kids. There are great above ground trains that will take you from the ferry building to the Wharf/ Pier area.

When downtown, I grab cabs all the time, it%26#39;s easy and fairly cheap.

Are you staying at ';Radisson Hotel San Francisco Airport at Sierra Point';? This is the only Radisson I found that is located anywhere near SFO. Unfortunately for you, this Radisson has *NO* public transit access. You *MUST* use a car while staying at this hotel unless it has a free airport shuttle. However, even with a free airport shuttle, this hotel is *NOT* close to SFO and will require a substantial amount of backtracking via the shuttle and BART to get to/from San Francisco. This will add roughly 2 hours to your ';commute'; to/from San Francisco each day you stay here. I suggest you look elsewhere for your accommodations!

The Radisson on Sierra Point Parkway doesn%26#39;t seem to be within walking distance of good public transportation. They do have a free shuttle to the airport, where you can catch BART.

The South San Francisco Caltrain station looks like it%26#39;s about a mile away, but except for the commute hours, the wait for a train can be an hour. Plus, it drops you off about a mile-and-a-half from downtown SF.

According to San Francisco Taxi Fare Finder, the cost of a cab from the Radisson to Moscone Center in downtown SF is $30 including tip. A taxi%26#39;s more expensive than BART or Caltrain, but it%26#39;ll probably take you less than 15 minutes from hotel to downtown. If you go on BART, it will probably take an hour to go from your hotel to SF via SFO.

That%26#39;s right, it%26#39;s the Radisson Sierra Point. Yikes, I didn%26#39;t realize it would take that long to take the shuttle to the airport, and then BART to the downtown area. I thought maybe half hour to 45minutes. I will have to weigh my options... the Radisson would be free or pay for a hotel closer to all the sights.

Thanks all for the info!

The BART ride alone is about 35 minutes from SFO to Embarcadero station. (www.bart.gov for schedules) You might call the Raddison and ask about the frequency of the hotel%26#39;s shuttle to/from the airport and how long the trip takes.

The SFO BART station is at the Internation Terminal so that is where you%26#39;d want the hotel%26#39;s shuttle to pick you up/drop you off. (www.flysfo.com has a good terminal map)
