Best place to ski in USA?

Me and my girlfriend are lookin at headin to the states in january 2010 for 10 days skiing and 4 days in new york and i was wondering if anybody could reccommend somewhere nice where theres plenty to do(apart from ski) and good apres ski. I have been skiing before but my girlfriend hasnt but that isnt a massive problem as she can just have lesson before we go.

Doesnt have to be in California...it can be anywhere. We just wanna go to somewhere good.

Tahoe area is good for both skiing, having nice places to stay; and there is plenty to do in the evening given the nearby casinos, restaurants, and night life. Colorado is also a possibility with their numerous resorts and you may want to post on that forum as well. You might also want to look at the Park City area in Utah - this is where the Olympcis were held a few years back, and has good skiing, restaurants, lodging.
