Cheapest Transfer from Anaheim to Universal Studio?

Does anyone know the cheapest way to get to Universal Studios from the disneyland area? We can%26#39;t get a car, so busses or shuttles are our only option, but everything we find is coming up as $40 just for transfer!

Have you checked the Gray Line option?

Less than $20 more than a ticket... And you might want to look into this addition...

For $8 more, a chance to check the LA/Hollywood area in addition of USH.

Cheapest Transfer from Anaheim to Universal Studio?

yah i checked that one already.

You can get tickets for only $54.99 so with that the transfer ends up being $26...

Can someone tell me how to get to Universal Studios, from anaheim, if I already have my Universal ticket. I am buying the Southern california city pass, because it saves me over 100 us dollars in entry fees plus no lining up to purchase. but i am staying the whole time in anaheim to save going backwards and forwards and dont know how to get there.

Gray Line actually has a special CityPass package, where you get three trips, one to each of the three non-Anaheim locations (USH, SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo for a total of $76.

You can view and actual SoCal CityPass boooklet at this link.

Pages 7 and 8 have the info for the package, also has a phone number to call for more info.

The absolutely cheapest way to get from Anaheim to Universal Studios is via public transit. From the Disneyland area, board Metro Express Line 460 bound for downtown Los Angeles. Once downtown, get off at the 7th/Metro station, transfer to the Metro Red Line (subway), and ride to the Universal City station. From there, a free shuttle runs up the hill to Universal Studios and the Citywalk. The total cost is $5.00 for a day pass, payable when you first board the bus for the day, plus an additional $1.20 each direction on Line 460. Total cost is $7.40, and one-way travel time is 2-2.5 hours. More info: http://www.metro.net

The more popular, more expensive alternative requires taking a Metrolink or Amtrak train from Anaheim (or Fullerton) to Los Angeles Union Station, then transferring to the Red Line there. Total cost is $13-17 (using Metrolink option) plus taxi or OCTA bus fare to/from the Anaheim or Fullerton station, and one-way travel time is 1.5 hours. More info: http://www.metrolinktrains.com

Thank you both so much for getting back to me. I had finally seen the link to the metro, but didnt know the exact stations etc. I am so looking forward to this trip which is still a way in advance but I am taking my 10 year old granson so want to make sure we have fun, and see lots. this works so well. thank you.

I am going to San Diego, to stay but original idea had been to change accommodation to LOS Angeles, too expensive and also wasting time, so this works out well. I can also see the walk of fame on the way home or there so that is good too. I am keeping these directions in a safe place.

xx

we did this trip only a few weeks ago now - i%26#39;d researched alot and found this was both the cheapest and quickest option (obviously quickest quickest would probably be taxi but it certainly wouldn%26#39;t be the cheapest!)....

We took the number 43 bus www.octa.net/pdf/pdf/dec08/route043.pdf that runs up harbor right past Disneyland for $1.25pp (wef 4 January its $1.50pp) to Fullerton Transportation Center. Took about 10/15 minutes if i remember rightly but the exact time will be on their website.

Theres two well known train companies that go from there - the Amtrak and the Metrolink - we opted for the Metrolink Train Orange County Line based on the fact it was cheaper than the amtrak and you can just take your bags on with you unlike on the Amtrak were you have to check them in and make sure the train you%26#39;re wanting to get accepts %26#39;checked baggage%26#39;. This cost us $6.75pp - FYI its cheaper on a weekend as are senior/disabled and youths on a weekend - this took about 40 minutes getting off at the last stop LA Union Station http://www.metrolinktrains.com/

One thing i did like with the metrolink train was that you could use your ticket for a free ride on the subway - i don%26#39;t know if you can use it if you take the Amtrak - but that saves you a couple of dollars. We then took the subway right up to Universal City which i think took about 30 minutes.

Its nice getting out and about and seeing LA/Anaheim how the people that live there see it - i found there are very little tourists that take this type of public transport for some reason.

Hope this helps

It does and thank you. I agree about the getting out and seeing LA from the point of view of the locals. I am amazed at the good transport options and the cost. A trip like that distance in Sydney would probably cost upwards of $30 by public transport.
