Hi, I%26#39;d like a relaxing beach holiday where I can sunbathe most days but I%26#39;d also like the opportunity to be able to go into San Diego for a few nights out and wondered if La Jolla was a good option? I would be looking at using a cab firm or public transport to go between La Jolla-San Diego - how does this sound?
La Jolla
La Jolla is a neighborhood of the city of SanDiego and so you are IN SD when you are there.
The only public transport is a bus and that would take a while to get to downtown SanDiego. IF you rented a car you could be there in 20 min. or of course by taxi but the bus makes lots of stops.
There are several areas of La Jolla so IF you are in the area near La Jolla COVE where the locals call it the ';village of La Jolla'; then there are tons of restaurants right there. IF you are a young single 20-30something then you might prefer to stay downtown and just go to the beach or to stay at Pacific Beach.
La Jolla
La Jolla is one of my favorite areas of San Diego, very scenic with nice beaches, great shopping and restaurants. Have fun! :)
La Jolla is about a 10-12 mile journey into San Diego. Cab fare would be about $30 -$35 each way.
The number 50,150, and 30 buses all go to the UTC shopping mall which is in inland La Jolla from San Diego.
www.sdcommute.com for bus routes and time schedules.
Just to be clear. UTC the shopping center mentioned is not in La Jolla. It is an area just next to it.
If you feel comfortable driving on the other side of the road, I strongly suggest you rent a car. San Diego is a commuter town and very large, our public transport is not as good as you will be used to.
Don%26#39;t even hope for public transportation in San Diego. The timings/routes aren%26#39;t convenient.
Best beaches to sunbathe are probably Pacific Beach and Coronado and Del Mar. Of these I like PB the best because of the proximity to numerous eateries and watering holes (apart from the people watching).
