Hi! My husband and I are planning to take a trip to San. Francisco, Napa, and Yosemite this summer. We are planning on a 10 day total trip. I was hoping to get some suggestions on how to break up the days between the three destination spots. Any suggestions. I am just trying to choose hotels and am not sure how many days to stay in each spot. Thanks in advance for your help.
Smiles!!
Time line for San Francisco, Napa, and Yosemite trip
It depends on what you like to do. If you are outdoorsy, and like to hike a lot then I%26#39;d say 3 days in Yosemite. If you just want to look around at the scenery, then 2 days, one night is probably enough.
Napa, same thing, if you are really into wineries and want to see all of them I suppose you could spend 3 days there, but 2 is probably more than enough.
Spend the rest of the time in SF.
Consider taking a day trip down south to Carmel and Monterey, even better spend the night there.

I just about couldn%26#39;t tell you better then how ';SIMBOT';put it. That%26#39;s about what I would%26#39;ve told you as well.
I took a similar trip this past spring. I spent 5 nights in SF, 3 nights in Yosemite, and 1 night in Monterey (from there, I drove south to Big Sur). I went to Napa as a day trip from SF. It was an ambitious itinerary, but I kept a quick pace and got to see just about everything I intended to.
You can spend an unlimited amount of time in and around the city; exploring the various neighborhoods.
You can see most of Yosemite in 2 full days if you keep moving. You%26#39;ll do a lot of driving. Check out this website for a 2-day schedule: (www.yosemitefun.com/images/yosemite_park.htm)
If you want to relax, do some hiking, and really take it all in, you can spend a lot more time there.
As for Napa - unless you%26#39;re really into wine tastings, I think 1 night would be sufficient. I took a train ride through the valley. Its beautiful, but the scenery is the same throughout.
Good luck. I loved it and will be back in SF next month. =)
First, you cannot see all the wineries in 10 days...(i.e. I saw the earlier answer that said you could see all the wineries in 2 days. There are 100%26#39;s of wineries in this area.
As such, it depends what you like to do most. Hiking and nature - more time in Yosemite. The problem here is getting lodging as there are not that many places to stay. Wineries - lots. If first trip to San Francisco, a minimum 3 days.
It also depends on what you want from your hotel stay and your price.
Also, Yosemite availability is limited. I would first start and look at the Yosemite National Park Site and see what is available and for how many nights. (Note; There are cancellations later on, but its good to firm this up asap.)

If you just want to get an overview of the park, you can do it in 2 nights stay. If you want to get out and take in a day hike, plan on 3.
For Napa, I would probably opt for a bed and breakfast stay - they are so nice in this area and really add to the charm of staying here. If you like wine tsating, olive oil tasting, etc. plan on 3 days (2 nights).
Balance of the time in San Francisco.
';First, you cannot see all the wineries in 10 days..';
Agreed, I didn%26#39;t mean it that literally. Maybe I should have said, after 3 days you%26#39;ll be sick of wineriers. Or maybe that%26#39;s just me, 1/2 a day in Napa is more than enough for me.
Now Yosemite, that%26#39;s a different story, I could spend months there.
