Grafton on sunset

Flights are booked leaving 8th April from Heathrow arrive in to Lax at 14:50. Not sure how much a cab costs think its quite expensive for two of us. I checked a shuttle company and they said it would be $35 for both of us to get to the The Grafton on Sunset. I%26#39;m still being VERY indecisive wether to spend the whole 5 nights here or do 1 or two nights in Santa Monica and go back to the airport from their. In West Hollywood we want to do all the normal tourist attractions and 1 day at universal studios. We will not have a car so i appreciate everything will take twice as long to get anywhere.

The Grafton is in West Hollywood, not Santa Monica. From LAX it would be about $45.

You could split your stay and spend the last two nights in SM.

Forgot: A shuttle can take two hours from LAX a taxi about 30 minutes. Shuttles - you have to wait for each passenger on the shuttle to be dropped off. This is hell after a long flight.

Taxi%26#39;s aren%26#39;t cheap, but they don%26#39;t charge per person so it will be the same price for two of you as it would be for one. My guess is that the fare would be a bit higher than $45, however. According to Google maps its about 19 miles from the airport to the Grafton. At the mandated rate of $2.70 per mile that%26#39;s about $51, plus it costs roughly an extra $6 to start a cab trip at LAX, so that%26#39;s $57. The kicker will come from the fees they charge every time you get stuck in traffic - $0.30 for every 37 seconds spent waiting in traffic. From the sound of it, you%26#39;ll probably be getting out of the airport around 5PM once you clear customs. If you%26#39;re arriving on a weekday, that will put you right in the middle of rush hour traffic. That being the case, I%26#39;d expect the fare to be about $10-$20 higher (at least) due to the fees you%26#39;ll pay for being stuck in traffic, which puts this trip somewhere in the $65-$80 range.

Thank you i really appreciate the break down on the charges for a cab. I know after a 11 hour flight i am going to be tired but i%26#39;m sure i will perk up at the fault of having a bit of extra money in my pocket by getting the train. Also i don%26#39;t like getting a cab when i dont know roughly the fare especially as you are saying it goes up when you are stuck in traffic. Their is no way of knowing how bad the traffic is going to be be. After further more research which i%26#39;m getting kind of fed up off now i%26#39;m going to stay in the Magic Castle Hotel in Hollywood as its easy to get to Universal by metro and their is a tour company near by to do the tours and we can do the nightife their or get a cab to sunset if we really need to.
