Hi all, we are thinking of flying into Miami, renting a car and driving to LA. We would like take in New Orleans,Dallas,El Paso,Vegas and then on to LA. Is this do-able in approx two weeks without pushing it too hard? Thanks
Miami to LA
Bump:)
Miami to LA
I have done that trip years ago, 2 weeks is duable. Without stopping for sights to see you can probably do it in 3-4 days. So 14 days should be fine. Make sure to save some days for exploring Los Angeles aswell!
It%26#39;s a very long way to go in two weeks, and you won%26#39;t have much time at all to experience each area. I%26#39;m thinking it%26#39;s about 2,500 miles, so with 14 days figure you will need to drive about 180 miles each and every day or 360 miles every other day. Not counting any stops.
Would suggest you also post in the various states along your route
Thanks for the info, time to dig out the maps and the calculator..
You can do it if you don%26#39;t spend any time in any of the places you list. It%26#39;s constant driving, maybe a couple hours visiting each city. It%26#39;s like driving from London to Fez, Morocco in two weeks and wanting to visit all the major cities in between. Would that be how you would like to spend your vacation? I don%26#39;t think so.
Fly from Miami to Los Angeles if both cities are on your top list to see. Spend about 3 or 4 days in each place, and then drive or fly to Las Vegas from LA, spend a couple days there.
I guess it depends upon what you consider ';pushing it';. This is approximately over 200 miles of driving each of those 14 days.
I personally wouldn%26#39;t do it, but we can pretty comfortably get across the country in 5 days, without sightseeing, so I guess if you don%26#39;t want to spend too much time in these locations and are comfortable with so much driving, it would be ';do-able';.
If there is nothing between Miami and New Orleans you want to see you might save some time by taking a cheap flight from Miami to there and start your trip then.
I%26#39;ve done a similar drive, and think 2 weeks would be plenty of time. You wouldn%26#39;t be able to spend more than a couple days in any particular city, though.
Don%26#39;t forget the Grand Canyon.
