South Pasadena Morning Workout

I will be an out-of-towner and just wanted to get suggestions on a nice route for a morning jog or late afternoon walk in Pasadena. Any place where locals go for an outdoor change of scenery, nothing solitary somewhere safe? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

One favorite place to walk is at the exterior areas around Rose Bowl. The scenery is beautiful and its a good workout depending on how fast or slow you want to make it. Its safe as many people walk in the area daily-at many times of the day. Enjoy!

Thanks, I will definitely check it out!

So Pas is a small beautiful city adjacent to Pasadena. There are great shops and restaurants in the downtown area and many historical sites along the way. A Short drive along the Arroyo offers views of the estate homes and North moving towards Pasadena the Rose Bowl. Going east there beautiful parks and the Adjacent city of San Marino. The Huntinton library would be a must see. Since So Pas is adjacent to Pasadena there is plenty to see and do withoust going far.

The LA arboretum is also close to Paaadena. Not great for running, but good place to get out and take a walk with interesting scenry:

For running maps, here is a pretty good guide of many ones you can do As already mentioned, Rose Bowl area is very very popular. Also, look for some of the routes around the park areas.

I%26#39;m not sure why a tourist would be specifically interested in South Pasadena, but to answer your question:

South Pasadena is a very small city, @ 24,000, adjacent to Pasadena and Los Angeles. It is a residential community without any specific ';tourism'; destinations. There are no hotels, but a couple of older homes have been converted into B and B inns.

That said, South Pasadena is very safe, quite charming and ';walkable';, especially if you are staying near the Mission Street district. There are pleasant restaurants and cafes, and a live theater. There is no movie theater. The residential areas are nice to walk in, and the turn-of-the-century homes are frequently used as movie locations. The Gold Line light rail station at Mission, or buses, will take you to Pasadena or Downtown Los Angeles in just a few minutes. Connections to other light-rail (Metro) lines at Union Station in Downtown LA provide easy access to Universal or Hollywoood.
