I will stay in Rodeway Inn (in Beverly blvd 7700) and I need to go to 1. Cedars Sinai Medical centre and 2. Wright Centre in the 520 South San Vicente Blvd
Is it possible to take public transportation to and fro the above 2 places, without any need of interchange?
What is the neighbourhood around the motel? Is it safe to walk to the nearby restaurant / market place for dinner in the evening?
Thank you!
Rodeway inn Los angeles - many questions
The area is mostly residential, nothing fancy, but not bad aswell
As for public transportation, it should be easy to get around from your hotel to your destination
Just go to www.metro.net and use there trip planer. Simply typw your starting point adress and Cedar Sinai as your ending point, the day and the time you want to arrive and the planer will show you exactly on how to get there and what busroutes to take

The hospital is 1.25 miles (1.85 km) west of the hotel on the same street (Beverly Bl), although you%26#39;ll need to walk around to the other side of the hospital complex to enter it. Take any westbound bus on Beverly Bl as long as it says ';Beverly Pico'; or, even better, walk to the corner of Beverly Bl %26amp; Fairfax Av and take the DASH FAIRFAX bus (only 25-cents) to the hospital. Note: the DASH does not run in the evenings (past 6) or on Sundays,
520 S. San Vicente is about .5 miles (.8 km) south of the hospital on San Vicente Bl (San Vicente borders the hospital on its east side). You could take a bus but by the time you walked to a bus stop and waited for it, you could walk there (which would take about 10 minutes).
Be aware that San Vicente Bl is the dividing line between Los Angeles and Beverly Hills so the address numbers on the buildings are different on the Beverly Hills (west) side of the street compared to the Los Angeles (east side) of the street. So, for example, there might be a building with an address of 400 North on the left side of the street across the street from a building with a 100 address. Your destination is on the east side (left side of San Vicente as you travel from the hosptital).
Thank you very much for your information.
Is it safe to walk around there? Especially at dinner time?
The areas you mentioned are perfectly safe. Within a few minute%26#39;s walk from your hotel is the Farmers Market and the Grove (which are popular attractions for locals and tourists and are open late).
The same is true of the area around the Beverly Center Shopping Mall which is just east of the hospital (San Vicente Bl -- the eastern boundary of the hospital -- borders the back side of the Beverly Center. If you walk around to the front of the Beverly Center, you%26#39;ll see lots of people frequenting the mall and the many restaurants (of all types and prices).
Thanks all!
For local people would they drive for such a short distance instead of taking bus + walking in the street? I shall stay there for 2 weeks and may go to other tourist sites in weekend only. It is quite costly to rent a car here (including tax, insurance, parking fee ...etc)
Is it dangerous to wait for a bus in the street during dinner time? ( Risk of robbery, assault etc)
Thanks again!
I wait for the bus all the time, still writing on here, so yeah, you will survive and it will be perfectly safe, even late at night
Alex is correct. Your concerns about safety are overblown.
My hunch is you%26#39;ll be plesantly surprised with public transit in L.A. My retired parents have been travelling from Canada to L.A. for over a decade now and they take public transit to get to Santa Monica, West Hollywood, downtown and Pasadena. They think the service is excellent. It is helpful to research the system at www.mta.net.
Let us know what your experience is and report back here. Other travellers would appreciate your feedback.
