San Diego horseback riding/wine tours

Hello, we will be visiting San Diego the first of April this year. We just visited there this past August and have already done the zoo, Balboa Park, etc and now are looking for more to do. Even outside of San Diego, no more than an hour. We would love to find a place that offers horseback riding and/or with a wine tasting tour, I have see these offered in northern, CA. Also, do you have to have a passport to go into Mexico (Tijuana)? Is this trip worth it and what are some must sees/do%26#39;s if we do go to Mexico? Any horseback riding, kayaking, etc is up our ally. Even deep sea fishing if offered. Thanks in advance!

San Diego horseback riding/wine tours

The main wine area in San Diego is north to Temecula. It is about an hour to an hour and a half drive up the 15. You might check the Temecula forum for more info about the wine/horseback riding tours. I haven%26#39;t heard of any.

There is a great limo bus tour of the wine country called The Grapeline. We%26#39;ve used it on multiple visits - and it is a good way to orient yourself to the many many many wineries in the valley. If they have enough people they%26#39;ll pick up in San Diego as well.

What an interesting idea! I have never heard of a horseback riding wine tour. You can google hordeback riding for SanDiego. There are many stables but I cannot recommend any particular one.

You will need EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate to get back from Mexico. IF you do not have a passport it would be a good idea to get one because soon you will need it to go anywhere outside the USA.

Tijuana, is not a good example of what Mexico has to offer. You might enjoy a ';real'; trip into Mexico but if it cannot be on this one then plan it for a time when you have your passports.

There is sea kayaking at La Jolla Shores, either a tour or rent your own and explore the shoreline caves, snorkel from it(with wet suits) etc.

There are also deep sea fishing trips from the dock area in the POint Loma neighborhood of SanDIego.

You can also go tandem on a hang glider from the TorreyPines Gliderport OR just watch them take off from the cliffs.

nativeso cal, HOw cool!!! I%26#39;d love to do that and had never thought it existed.See what we ';experts'; can learn!!

You bet! I%26#39;m ALL over that for our spring %26#39;girls weekend%26#39; with my daughters. Thanks to Jeeps for coming up with the post!

WOW. That%26#39;s sweet....my wife will be all over that.

We%26#39;ve been on the limo wine tours before and had a blast. How cool would it be to do it on horseback! Thanks.

Riff,

Is the birth passport/certificate thing new? I haven%26#39;t been to Mexico in 2 or 3 years but when I used to go regularly we just used a drivers license to get back.

You are wellcome and I hope you take a tour. It really is fun and everyone so far has said they had a blast. Time your trip for a mid day ride then afternoon wine tasteing and maybe a stop at Pechanga Casino for the evening. It is a fun filled day for sure...

And if you are really adventureous try a Hot Air Ballon ride as well

There is an awesome guided tour by horseback in Temecula Wine Country. Not only do you get to visit these beautiful wineries, but you can now ride through the vineyards. The horses are awesome. You actually ride your own horse at the speed that you wish, it is not a boring follow the leader type ride. The web site is winecountrytrailsbyhorseback.com or mail at info@winecountrytrailsbyhorseback.com 951-795-1444.
