A good bar in San francisco

Can anyone recommend a good bar in San Francisco? we are staying in the Financial district for the next couple of days, and have found lots of lovely restaurants and bistros, but we would like to find a nice friendly bar too! We were in a good Irish place on 5th street - any other suggestions??

By the way - we%26#39;re having a great time here!

The Elephant Castle on Clay/Battery www.elephantcastle.com

The Royal Exchange royalexchange.com on Sacramento %26amp; Front Streets

The Americano in the Hotel Vitale (across from the Ferry Building) and Ducca are really happening at happy hour.

If you head over to Union Square, Tunnel Top is a good one, as is Owl Tree. For a really unpretentious little wine bar (it almost feels like you%26#39;re in someone%26#39;s living room), check out Hidden Vine.

Cafe Zoetrope - 916 Kearny St on the edge of Chinatown. We went here when we visited SF, and it was great - ambience, friendliness and sophistication, really good wine selections, and also good Italian food.

More a place for relaxing and chatting, rather than lots of people %26amp; noise.

We loved The Buena Vista Cafe on Hyde Street.

Supposedly the birthplace of Irish Coffee in America. They currently serve up to 2000 Irish Coffees per day.

It is a treat to watch them make the coffees.

Very friendly bar and good carrot cake for a sweet treat.

Greetings %26amp; Happy 2009!

I%26#39;d like to sugest an ';off the wall'; bar in San francisco.It%26#39;s called the ';Divas Mother Lode';.

There is a $10 cover charge after 9pm-21:00hr on Friday %26amp; Saturday Nights

yet for a ';Real San Francisco Experience'; go there.

It%26#39;s on Post Street @ Polk.
