dining costs at rancho las palmas v mission hills resort

hi everyone, sorry to be so indecisive but still need your input and advice please.

we have to choose between the 2 hotels,so is there a big difference in meal costs at these hotels as we are a family of five so trying to establish a budget for food and drinks for our 6 day stay here.i know the river complex is near rlp so other options there but they have a daily resort charge whereas westin are offering no resort fee, free breakfast and room upgrade, please help us make up our minds,we know food may be pricey so just want to be prepared and save up before we go in may,

many thanks annie

Breakfast for 5 people will cost more than the $22resort fee at RLP if everyone is an ';eater';. So free breakfast is good value for your family assuming the room fees are the same. Have you checked the parking fees in case that is not included in the ';resort'; fee? You WILL need a rental car.

I feel bad to see you struggling so with hotels. I actually agree with Puter who said in your last string that you might consider condos. From your avatar I%26#39;m guessing a home on a pool, with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, a courtyard, kitchen and laundry room, would be just the thing for you. The Coachella Valley is full of beautiful resorts that incorporate gated condo communities. Many have one-week minimums for rentals, but with the economy so bad, that is generally negotiable now.

Nor would I feel it necessary to stick with the immediate Palm Springs area. East valley towns like Palm Desert and La Quinta are 15-20 miles east of P.S. and have just as much to offer in terms of scenery, attractions, shopping, and restaurants, not to mention grocery stores and medical facilities.

Try looking at either of these extremely-well-developed resorts. There are others, of course, but in my opinion these have the most to offer.

The Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert -- a chic and sleek modern resort: http://www.desertspringsresort.com/

www.vacationclub.com/resorts/de/default.jsp.

Or the historic LaQuinta Resort and Club -- a Spanish Colonial-style paradise:

The valley is gloriously beautiful and we can completely guarantee you warm, sunny and wonderful in May!!!!

thanks to both of you,we have limited choice as we are using loyalty holiday vouchers,of the 2 we chose

rancho= parking and resort fees but near to river complex

,mission=free Parking, free resort fees, free breakfast and room Upgrade,

virgin Do offer other hotels ie desert springs 2 but our children are 4,9 the and 11 so thought the Pools and actiities wouldsuit us better

as always i,m grateful for your input as hubby happy for me to choose and book!

regards annie

Oh, you did say that about the vouchers -- I had forgotten. Darn! I had your kids running around their own little house already!! :-)

Perhaps another time.

Some less-costly casual restaurants (if they haven%26#39;t already been mentioned) are Sherman%26#39;s Deli (Jewish)in Palm Springs and any of the Las Casuelas (Mexican)locations throughout the valley.

Best of luck and have a great time!
