Hotels for Family with Teens

I have it down to a couple of hotels - Marriott Newport by Fashion Island, Marriott Santa Monica, or Disney%26#39;s Paradise Pier. Don%26#39;t know which to choose if anyone can help? Any other suggestions - possibly Renaissance Hollywood? Thanks in advance.

What are yuor interests? Newport and Disney are at least an hour drive each way outside of L.A.

If your main purpose is to enjoy and see the L.a. Sights, consider either the Renaissance in Hollywood or Santa Monica

How old are your children? 13-year old boys that like to make a lot of noise at the swimming pool or 19 year old girls that like texting?

The four properties you mentioned are hours apart from one another. What attractions will you be visiting? Will you have a car? We have lots of traffic, here, so even during ';low traffic'; times, it will take over an hour to travel from Newport Beach to Hollywood or Santa Monica. During high traffic periods, Mon - Fri from 6:000 to 9:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00 or on Sundays from 16:00 to 21:00, it could take twice as long. If you%26#39;re visiting one of these area for just one afternoon, it%26#39;s difficult not to drive in during the %26#39;rush hour%26#39; at least once (if not, twice).

None of the Marriotts are terribly ';family oriented';. They are large corporate properties with conference rooms, high end dining. cocktail lounges and business centers. Yes, there are pools, etc but you would certainly be in a more ';family environment'; at one of the Disney Hotels.

In Santa Monica, Hollywood, etc, there are other hotels that would be more ';family oriented';. Consider the Loews in Santa Monica or the Magic Castle (a 3-star) in Hollywood or the Sunset Plaza in neighboring West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip or, for small children, the Farmers Daughter in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of L.A. (east of Beverly Hills).

I have a 17, 15 and 13 year old girls that enjoy shopping and seeing the usual touristy sights They%26#39;re very well travelled and quite quiet. I have to also please my husband who likes to stay where he can go to the lobby and have a cup of coffee at any hour of the night and a place where he can walk anytime. Jetlag really hits him hard. We will have a rental car. We%26#39;re o.k. with Marriotts or upper end hotels and are used to staying at them but I really, really hate doing laundry by hand or giving it to the hotel to do. But that%26#39;s not a priority. Thanks for all your advice.

Either Marriot Santa Monica (Le Merigot) or Renaissance Hollywood. Those are your two best choices. It%26#39;s just a matter of beach or city. I would go with the Santa Monica location, personally. It%26#39;s a fantastic hotel, great location, easy to walk to great restaurants and many, many, many shops.

Thanks for all the advice - Santa Monica sounds great! Does anyone know if there are laundromattes in the area and do people use them alot in L.A. Some cities don%26#39;t have many and only in bad neighborhoods. Thanks - I%26#39;m looking forward to our trip.

There are a few laundromats in the area near Le Merigot (Marriot). One on Main Street at Ocean Park, one on Montana Ave and 10th, one on Wilshire Blvd and Euclid. The only one within walking distance is the one on Main Street at Ocean Park. There are many fluff and fold places where you drop off your laundry and they charge by the pound, like the one on Montana and 10th (you%26#39;ll need your car).

Thanx again. Your advice REALLY, REALLY helps.
