San Francisco to UC Berkeley

My husband and I are vacationing in San Francisco and need to get to UC Berkeley to watch our daughter play basketball, wondering the best mode of transportation to and from the game? Bart, Bus, Cab, town car? The game is on Sunday and not being familiar with the area, just want safest and convenient way around. Excited to see San Francisco again!

I would take BART, and then, if necessary, a short cab ride. I don%26#39;t know where they play soccer. When I was an undergrad soccer did not exist %26lt;grin%26gt;.

Oops, I misread you. I do know where they play basketball. A cab ride will work fine.

You can take BART, but BART doesn%26#39;t go directly to Berkeley from SF on Sundays. From SF, you%26#39;ll have to get on a Pittsburg/Bay Point-bound train, and then transfer to a Richmond-bound train at the Oakland City Center/12th Street station. Get off at the downtown Berkeley station. If this is a UW/UC game, it%26#39;s about a 10-minute walk to Haas Pavilion.

thanks Puter! Having no clue about how to ride the Bart, is there a specific one we have to take or just head to the closest Bart Station near our hotel and we will figure it out there? Also, will there be cabs available at the Berkeley stop or do we need to call before we get there? Thanks again for your help!

Thank you for your reply, but that sounds rather complicated! How crazy would we be to take a cab or a town car directly from our hotel to the game and then back?

It%26#39;s not crazy to take a cab rather than BART. Sunday BART service to Berkeley is pretty bad.

It%26#39;s probably a 20-minute ride from downtown SF to Berkeley. I am guessing that a taxi ride would be $40-$50.

Sounds a lot easier, LOL! thank you, can%26#39;t wait for our trip!

Yes, I did not know about the bad BART service on Sundzy. Just relax and bite the bullet and pay the price for a cab or limo.

Ugh. I%26#39;d rather take BART to Berkeley. As long as you allow enough time, it shouldn%26#39;t be bad.

Whenever I go to Berkeley, I take BART (even through the trips on Sunday can take almost an hour-and-a-half between Daly City and Berkeley, vs. 35 minutes driving.) But if you%26#39;re from out-of-town, and willing to spend the money, a cab is much easier.
