4 nights on H1 - where to stay

Hi

Since last post (thanks for all the help so far!) we have chosen a stay in SF for 4 nights (White Swann Inn) and 2 nights in Monteray (Mont Bay inn) - but have been told that Carmel/Pacific G is better (Monteray ';lots of tourist/trinket shops'; - so firstly given we are spending $500 a night here, have we chosen wisely!?

Secondly, we then have 4 nights to do the rest of H1 - was thinking 2 nights in Santa Barbara(?) and maybe 2 in either Cambria, Pizmo Beach, Morro Bay etc etc Any and all suggestions greatly received - even if they contradict!!

As ever thanks a million to everyone kind enough to help with our honeymoon planning

4 nights on H1 - where to stay

You may want to consider The Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel, it is less expensive than $500/night and is a very romantic property with lots of amenities, we have stayed twice here so let me know if you have any questions about hte Tickle Pink Inn, it is in the Carmel Highland%26#39;s area.

I would go with Cambria, consider the Blue Whale Inn, right across the street from Moonstone Beach for your stay. www.centralcoast.com Have fun! :)

4 nights on H1 - where to stay

Hi John %26amp; Libby

Decisions, decisions!!

First, if I were looking to stay right on the water in Monterey I would choose the Monterey Plaza Hotel. While it is on Cannery Row, it%26#39;s at the farthest end from the touristy areas and still well within walking distance.

Second, I agree with syrahgirl that the Tickle Pink Inn would be a great honeymoon spot. Visit www.ticklepinkinn.com and see for yourself. While you would have to drive to explore Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel by the Sea, the Tickle Pink Inn is an ideal honeymoon location.

As far as Pismo Beach VS Cambria: Cambria is the more romantic of the two locations. Where to stay depends on your personal preferences. syrahgirl%26#39;s recommendation of the Blue Whale Inn is a lovely one, but it might be too frilly for some men. Moonstone Landing is more contemporary and the upper level rooms have balconies overlooking the ocean. The Sand Pebbles Inn and Fog Catcher Inn are 2 properties also worth investigating.

If I were honeymooning in Pismo I would choose either Sea Venture Resort, which is right on the beach and you can literally walk off the hotel property on to the beach for romantic sunset walks or The Cliffs Hotel or Dolphin Bay Resort, both which sit on a bluff overlooking the coastline from Avila Beach to Point Sal.

BTW- Good choice with the White Swan Inn in San Francisco!!

Rather than doing two nights in any of these places, I recommend you stop a lot more along your way (Big Sur is really cool and beautiful and worth exploring) - make sure to go to Nepethe for dinner and watch the sunset over the Pacific while you have dinner.

As the others mentioned, Cambria is very romantic - there are some great wineries there, a charming downtown and lots of nice walkways that have been built along the coast. You might want to consider stopping at the Hearst Castle on your way down the coast - it%26#39;s a showstopper of a place and worth seeing.

Santa Barbara will probably only hold your attention for one day at most, so I woudn%26#39;t plan spending more than one night there.

If you want some more pointers about a California coastal trip, check out planning-fun-road-trips.com/road-trip-ideas.鈥?/a> and scroll down to the second half of the article.

Hope this helps!

hi syrahgirl

Thanks for your recommendation - i have contacted the hotel and it sounds nice, although the jacuzzi suite I would like is $500/night! My concerns, after reading reviews here are thin walls/ceilings ie noise and ';motel dressed as hotel'; comments....perhaps you can help? Also the suites are in a separate building - assume this doesn%26#39;t matter?

Also if we want to walk out for dinner is there anywhere to go or is it isolated? I don%26#39;t want to not have wine on honeymoon!!

Thanks again
