Red Lion Hotel

I%26#39;m about to book this with Travelocity (or maybe Expedia) for 7 nights in early April. We have 2A + 2C (11 %26amp; 9yrs).

Can%26#39;t seem to find out just how far it is to DL from there. Is it walkable?

Also does anyone know if there%26#39;s any restaurants close-by; is there a grocery shop nearby where we can buy cereal/milk/bread/butter etc?

Thanks for any assistance on nearby amenities.

Red Lion Hotel

it looks like that used to be named the anaheim maingate

heres a map that may help, the east entrance to disney is on harbor blvd about half way between the freeway and katella so pretty far, the reviews seem not too good

Red Lion Hotel

Just a suggestion.... We are are off to Anaheim this Saturday and we are staying at the Howard Johnson on Harbor Blvd and I have heard nothing but good reports about it and is only about a 10 min walk to the gate at DL. It also has a gift shop that has all the essentials you are after - Bread, milk...and there is a good restaurant across the road called Mimi%26#39;s. You could give them a try, I know that they fill up fairly quickly though....

heres the webpage that has the entertainment book rate and dates for the howard johnsons

If you go to the mousesavers web you can also get a booking code for Howard Johnson if the entertainment dates are not available. This place is nice and close to the park.

Beware of places that say ';2 Blocks'; away. These are not city blocks, these are 1/2 mile plus. Sorry I don%26#39;t know the metric conversion.

Tried Hojos but it was full. In fact tried sooooo many places but they were full.

Paniced so booked Red Lion as reviews seemed good since their reno.

Still need to know about immediate vicinity though.

Anybody know what%26#39;s nearby????

Cheers!!

The Red Lion, formerly Anaheim Main Gate Hotel, is on Harbor Blvd., just south of Katella, near the southeast corner of Harbor and Katella. It is walkable. To get to the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Gate, you would walk up Harbor Blvd. a little bit, cross at Katella and then cross again, so that you are on the other side of the street (Harbor). Then you walk up Harbor about a half a block (long block) and you will come to the Main Gate Entrance.

Once you walk into the entrance, you do need to walk to the security bag check, and across the Esplanade that separates the two parks to get to the park entrances.

You should be able to take the ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) either up or back, or both, if you don%26#39;t feel like walking.

I forgot the mention, if you continue walking up Harbor on the same side as your hotel you will get to the IHOP, McDonald%26#39;s, Millies Restaurant and Mimi%26#39;s Restaurant. I%26#39;m not sure what surrounds your hotel, though. Just by memory from driving by that corner last year is that the corner is not as scenic as the one across the street. It seemed to be more commerical on your side and more hotels on the other. I think there may be a gas station on the corner, or near to it. I am only going by my memory of driving by quickly, though.

Thanks Redhead, good info there.

Now I%26#39;m thinking I need to know about a laundromat - anybody got any ideas??

Some hotels have machines on the premises for guests to use. Your hotel has laundry services listed on their website as one of their amenities. You can email them to find out if they have machines available for your use or if they send out the guests%26#39; laundry to a service. It may even be both. Include in the email a request that they tell you the nearest laundry mat in the event they only send out laundry.
