Casa Cody vs The horizon Hotel

Could anyone share their thoughts on these 2 Inns. On route to Arizona and require small intimate upscale Inn for one eve. Casa Cody vs The horizon Hotel, both look unique. Welcome your response.

Casa Cody vs The horizon Hotel

The primary difference in the two hotels is style. The Horizon is a hip midcentury style hotel with separate and adjoining one story flat roofed units all around nice grounds with a pool in the middle of the property. Its is cool and clean looking, with a location in the Southern part of Palm Springs. I stayed there before their major renovation a year and a half ago, and enjoyed it very much. Casa Cody is in the Tennis Club area, which is an older part of Palm Springs, closer to the Mountains and to downtown. You can walk to the central part of downtown very easily from there. It is more of the classic old California/Spanish style hotel, full of charm, terra cota and the like. I havent stayed there, but it looks nice.

.........thankyou Tomtravel for successfully conveying the character of each accomodation....I%26#39;am trying to get myself better oriented with Palm Springs (I%26#39;%26#39;am the zinmans wife) while the zinman is relaxing by the pool,(with a zin) is it better for me to be in central part of downtown or southern oart of Palm Springs. Would like to poke around a few boutiques. As well we would like to go out for a great dinner, again small intimate with great food.

The central part is better if you do not want to rely on a car to go to dinner or just walk in town. It sounds like Casa Cody may be better for you in this instance. There are lots of small hotels close to the downtown area....Casa Cody is just one of them. There are lots of nice restaurants around (even one called ZIN) that you can try. You mentioned shopping...I must say that Palm Springs downtown commercial area has some eclectic shopping, but also has many empty retail spots these days....a sign of the economy and politics in town. If you want more upscale shopping, you might want to go to the EL Paseo area in Palm Desert. Its like a mini Rodeo Drive.

Very helpful Tomtravel........I%26#39;am getting a vision of what to expect....one more question if I may, any recent thoughts on Korakia, its also our kind of place, however the reviews are all over the map on this one. Would welcome your comments. Thinking on our way from Aziz to Lodi instead of going through Bakersfield comming in on 10 and staying in Palm Springs on our way there and after staying in Paso, another eve in Palm Springs on route back to Az.

Smallhotelsofpalmsprings.com will give you a few more choices. I%26#39;ve stayed at Casa Cody ,Calla Lily , Old Ranch , Viceroy

All have their good points and are walking distances to Palm Canyon Drive . There%26#39;s lots of good ones. I think you want the tennis club area if your just staying one night Good Luck

I dont know much about Kokoria, except that it is the place where cool LA people stay. I%26#39;ve heard mixed things about it as far as service. It sure is a cool looking place in the Tennis Club area, so if you want something more %26#39;exotic%26#39;....that may be a good choice for you.

The vibe at the Korakia is very different. We LOVE it. Very slow and self serve. If you are looking for a 5 start experience, stay somewhere else, but if you looking for a very cool, different and relaxing experience, then stay at the Korakia. You need to be comfortable with a more charming environment, and not require poolside attendant and cable in your room. It is one of the most unique places we have ever stayed.
