TOP 5 ';Must Taste'; WINERIES in the Valley...

Domaine Carneros, Nicholson Ranch for their Pinot Noir, Chateau Montelena ($20) Freemark Abbey (for the whites) and Artesa. Enjoy the wine country! :)

TOP 5 ';Must Taste'; WINERIES in the Valley...

Here%26#39;s my list:

1) Heitz - free tastings. Their 2004 Cab is outstanding. No need to buy at the winery.

2-4) Pride, Barnett, and Lewellyn. 3 wineries near each other on Spring Mountain. I think their tastings are free if not nominal (%26lt;$10?). Great views and atmosphere.

5)Beringer - I know it%26#39;s a owned by a big corporation. But their reserve chardonnays are really tasty. I don%26#39;t know how much their reserve tastings are now. Their reserve Cabs also age pretty well. No need to buy at the winery though.

Sherwin and Chimney Rock strictLy for Cabernet and Cabenet Blends....oustanding IMO

Listed from north to south locations: Chateau Montelena (Zin, Cab, Chard, Riesling), Clos Pegase (Reserve Chard, Merlot, Pinot, Cab), Hall (Cab, Cab Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc), Peju Province (Chard, Sauvignon Blanc, Zin, Cab, Cab Franc, Merlot, Syrah), and Pine Ridge (Cab, Malbec, Merlot, Chard).
