The Suite Life at the Pines Resort

This past Fri. night we headed up to the lovely area of Bass Lake to spend the night in a Spa Suite at the Pines Resort. Our check-in went very smoothly and we were given coupons for complimentary desserts at Ducey%26#39;s on the Lake and breakfast coupons for the next morning at the restaurant. They no longer offer the breakfast delivered to your room which I kind of missed. We arrived a little early, around 2:00 for check-in and our room was ready which was nice. There was snow all over the deck area and Goat Mountain which was beautiful. We sat out on our patio ourside our room and enjoyed some Robert Hall Orange Muscal dessert wine with our cheese and grapes we brought up, the rooms have small refrigerators which are nice.

I was able to do some un-interrupted reading of my new book ';The Associate'; which was relaxing and fun. We had a dinner reservation at Ducey%26#39;s @ 7:00, we had not been here since the new chef took over in the kitchen and were anxious to see what was going on. We started with some Mushroom appetizers which were delicious and brought in a bottle of 2005 Nicholson Ranch Pinot Noir to go with dinner, there is a $15 corkage fee. We shared the Garden Salad with a Raspberry Vinagerette dressing which was very good, the salads are now separate and not included with your entree as before. My entree was the Salmon Wellington which was oh, so good! The pastry wrapped salmon was perfectly prepared and served with sides of Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Veggies. Homemade bread accompanied our meal, also.

For dessert, I ordered the Chocolate Torte which was rich and decadant and the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. We went back to the Suite and Turndown service had left mints on our pillows and stocked our room with a new DuraLog. The next morning we went back to Ducey%26#39;s for breakfast. We shared the American breakfast with scrambled eggs, two slices of bacon, sausage and French Toast, very yummy and the fresh flowers on the table were gorgeous. We had very pretty views of the lake from our table and the our service was attentive and professional. There are great things going on at Ducey%26#39;s on the Lake again in the kitchen!

We called for an extension on check-out and were given until 12:30 which was nice, we relaxed out on the back deck and by the fireplace in the room enjoying our reading and taking in the beautiful scenery. We packed our things and headed out for Mariposa, which was a delightful little town to explore in the mountains. I will post about our time there separately on the Mariposa forum a bit later.

For anyone looking for a little R%26amp;R in a beautiful, lake community, the Pines Resort gets it right! :)

Oh, reading your review reminds me of a stay at the Pines about 10 years ago in the winter. I took my elderly parents and they felt pampered! It was beautiful to be in the snow and so peaceful compared to the summer.

Nice to read about the new chef and also the corkage fee if you bring your own wine in.

Thank you for a great review and nice memory!
