JW Marriott (former Pan Pacific)

Hi all,

My family and I will be going to SanFrancisco in May 2009, and we%26#39;re thinking to stay in JW Marriott (500 Post St cor Mason St), formerly Pan Pacific. Our concern is that it is near the Tenderloin.

Is it safe to stay there?

Which areas/streets should we avoid?

Or do you all have a better place to suggest? We%26#39;ll be there for 3 days, I believe.

The JW is on Post %26amp; Mason and it%26#39;s a few blocks away from the Tenderloin. It%26#39;s safe there and close to shopping, the Powell St cable car line, and Union Sq.

It%26#39;s safe to go up and down Post St. As for Mason St, you%26#39;re OK if you walk north (up the hill). But don%26#39;t go past Eddy St if you%26#39;re walking down Mason.
