Cavallo Point

We are considering staying here. However there have been several negative comments about the place. They are all within the last 2 months which makes me nervous. Does anyone have any other updated info on the place? Looks nice. Wonder if they would offer a discount given the less than spectacular reviews. Thanks.

Cavallo Point

i haven%26#39;t stayed there- only read about it. But it is a relatively new property so I doubt there is too much that%26#39;s different.

I can tell you that I have been to the area and it really is spectacular, a truly one of a kind location. Of course, it%26#39;s an area that gets fogged in, too, so that is always a risk (I noticed that one of the reviews mentioned the foghorns at night, which can sound romantic to some but might be a nuisance to others.)

It seems as though the main complaint had to do with the staff and their training/ ability to respond the customers need. If that is a major issue for you, then you may want to avoid the place. But if the location and the accommodations themselves are what really matter, then you might be very content there.

Ok thanks very much. Yes it sure is inviting and I%26#39;m hoping those issues will be worked out with them getting more and more experience.

The setting is spectatular, but away from town. (Perfect for some, an issue for others).

Call the hotel ahead of time to specifically ask where your room will be and what your view will be for a certain price point. Some rooms (especially those offered through discounters) have produced much of the disappointed feedback you read in various online sites, including here. Some rooms are just plain fabulous, but they%26#39;re at the higher end of the price range.

If stairs are a problem confirm the building you%26#39;re in will have an elevator if you are not on the ground floor.

The restaurant is Michelin rated and a gourmet treat, but expensive. If you like that kind of experience you%26#39;ll be in heaven, but if you prefer simpler, less expensive food you%26#39;ll need to jump in the car and drive 5 minutes down the road.

Hope this helps explain why you see lots of apparently conflicting online posts.

The area is lovely. I%26#39;ve not stayed there but have walked over the bridge from SF and lunched at the Farley Bar. The restaurant is very upscale and, at least for lunch, perhaps more than necessary; but lunch in the bar was very nice.

Some rooms are in the older, more established buildings. It also appears that somewhat 70%26#39;s era housing was built behind the restaurant area and I%26#39;d think that%26#39;s where the less than desireable rooms are. I%26#39;d definitely investigate what sort of room you%26#39;d get as I believe there is a great deal of difference from best to worst.
