To stay in Hollywood or Santa Monica?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay?

I have been to LA before but was only there for a few days and stayed in Hollywood the whole time.

Never got to venture to Santa Monica or Venice Beach. Is it worth staying in Santa Monica is it easy enough to get a bus into Hollywood? How long would it take?

Cheers,

Jess

If your visit is during the summertime heat...stay in Santa Monica if you%26#39;ve got the fund$.

To stay in Hollywood or Santa Monica?

Santa Monica is the best place to stay if you want to spend a lot of time at the beach and along the coast. The disadvantages are that its more expensive to stay there than in most other parts of the city, and its often less centrally located to other non-beach related activities (of course that depends on your individual itinerary). As the previous poster mentioned, in the summer the temperatures in Santa Monica and other costal areas are more moderate than further inland in Hollywood.

Santa Monica and Hollywood, altough in the same area, are very different from each other

So first you would have to ask yourself what you want out of your vacation while here.

Hollywood is more the citylife, trendy bars, nightclubs, centrally located to most sights a visitor would like to see

Santa Monica, is a more relaxed beacharea. It is such a nice place to just relax and have a good time(plus it also has some trendy bars) Santa Monica is a little more pricy, but you can find some great hotels in that area for around $150. So if you already stayed in Hollywood at your previous visit and dont come out just for the big clubs, why not go for Santa Monica

It will be a different experience(although you are pretty much in the same area), but that is what L.A. is all about. This city has pretty much everything and you are still not to far from Hollywood (about 40-50 min by bus) to not be able to enjoy the rest of the city
