Can my 17 year old (will be his birthday there), ride one of these on his own?
Jet Ski - what age to ride alone?
There is really not to much Jet skiing going on at the Pacific Ocean, for once it is a big ocean with riptides, underground currents and of course uncontrollable waves aswell.
It can be dangerous, even for a professional jet skier, to sent out your 17 year old, i would think twice about that.
Fortunatly enough we have plenty of lakes around Los Angeles. From Castaic(by magic mountain, which is a 17 y.o,boys dream) to Big Bear Lake that is well more situated(and safer) for Jet Skiing then the Pacific Ocean

There are no jet ski rentals here.
You cannot use the jet skis in the open ocean. IF you stay in San Diego as part of your trip you can rent jet skis in our Mission Bay Park where there are manmade bays set aside for that activity.
There are jet ski rentals at Dana Point Harbor,and you go out in the ocean off Doheny Beach and Dana Point.
