Best CHEAP tasty restaurants in the Palm Springs area

Hey everybody, my partner and I are going to Palm Springs for the week end in a couple of weeks and we are looking for some really good but not expensive restaurants to eat at while staying there. I like breakfast, BBQ, Mexican and he isnt picky at all asking for hamburgers or ';American';! I dont car much about the ambiance, decoration or fancy service reallly....it%26#39;s the FOOD that drives my engine.Love out of the way, undiscovered, hole in the wall kinda places that are off the tourist track.....would really appreciate any pointers. THANKS!

For Mexican, the place to go for locals is %26#39;El Mirasol%26#39; on Palm Canyon. For Thai, its Thai Smile. They are not fancy, but great food and popular with locals.

Thanks Tom...appreciate it. Any recommendations en route and return thru Indio to Joshua Tree NP?

For great Burgers, no frills...Tyler%26#39;s right downtown on Indian across from the Zoso Hotel.

Considered to be the '; Best Bruger'; in the area

They are often closed on Sundays so plan around that.

Thanks, Yes I have heard of TYLERS...looks promising so i will check it out. Any suggestions for breakfast?

Cheap: Bit o%26#39; Country- also on Indian- just south of Ramon

Heavy: Ruby%26#39;s Diner on Palm Canyon, nice to sit outside near the Sonny Bono fountain and people-watch

Bit o country...got ya. Now Ruby%26#39;s....that%26#39;s a chain, right?....dont know if I could stomach being across a square named for the repulsing Republican Sonny Bono!YUCK!

Ruby%26#39;s is a small chain, yeah....

Regardless of his political views, Sonny is part of Palm Springs%26#39; history and legend.

And it%26#39;s only a statue, it won%26#39;t bite.

I love Peabody%26#39;s for breakfast. I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be disappointed. It%26#39;s diagonally across from Ruby%26#39;s.

If you like seafood the Fish House on Indian Canyon or for Deli food go to Sherman%26#39;s Deli. Great food.

If your looking for good food, reasonably priced without concern for ambiance, decoration or fancy service you have just described John Henry%26#39;s. The food is plentiful with a varied menu, the service is good but certainly not pretentious. This place is always packed so a reservation is required, so it has been discovered but mostly by locals. John Henry%26#39;s is certainly of the tourist track. You won%26#39;t be disappointed.
