Transport to American Girl store

Hi we will be visiting in May and I want to take my girls to the American Girl Store (even my 14 year old wants to buy a doll!!!)

Can anyone tell me the best transport method on getting there and are there any other things we could do fairly close by on the same day. Also is there anything near AG for my husband and son to do while we are having our girly lunch?

thanks in advance

Transport to American Girl store

The best transport method is to hire a car. Otherwise, you%26#39;ll need to take a taxi to the rail station in Anaheim, a train to L.A%26#39;s Union Station followed by either a 30-minute taxi ride or a metro rail trip followed by a bus ride. This will amount to approximately 2 hours in each direction. You can drive in half the time.

The AG store is in the Grove http://thegrovela.com/, which is a fun, outdoor shopping center set up to look like a small village with a village green, clock tower, etc. Diagonally across from the store is the original Farmers Market where your son and husband can find lots of ';ready to eat'; dining options from Italian food to all-you-can-eat Argentine barbecue to hamburgers, donuts, pizza, etc., etc.

Here%26#39;s a list of restaurants at Farmers Market:

(Use the scroll bar at the right side of the green area to see the list).

As far as other things to do, there are lots and lots of things to see within 15 or 20 minutes of the Farmers Market, Remember L.A. is the second largest city in the U.S. so we have 100s of attractions.

Take a look at the tourism board%26#39;s website for L.A. by reading the home page as well as using the links in the orange area:

http://discoverlosangeles.com/

And, if you go to the LOS ANGELES FORUM (you and I are in the ANAHEIM FORUM, now), you can click on the FAQs at the top of the TOPIC LIST where you will find info about our NEIGHBORHOODS as well as ITINERARY IDEAS.

One attraction which comes to mind is the Griffith Observatory in massive Griffith Park. In addition to the Observatory and Planetarium there, there is also a rooftop Zeiss telescope that is pointed to a different place in the sky every evening. Visitors can look through the telescope at no charge as well as get a phenomenal view of the Los Angeles metro area -- by simply looking down on the city (not looking through the telescope!).

BTW, if you%26#39;re visiting during the week, try to avoid rush hour when you drive into or out of L.A. (6:00 to 9:00 and 15:00 to 19:00). You might be having dinner in our city!!
