Well, the easiest way is to take a taxi (about $25/25 minutes).

The second best way is to transfer to the red line metro rail at Union Station and take it to the Hollywood %26amp; Highland station (30 minutes/ $1.25 per person). Then, you%26#39;ll need to either walk north on Highland Av to your hotel (at 2011 N. Highland) or grab a taxi at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.

The walk is about .4 miles (.64 km). Exit the station, turn left onto Hollywood Bl, turn left at the corner (Highland Av) and walk north (up a slight to medium incline) to the hotel. The walk will take 10 or 12 minutes (huffing and puffing a little) or grab a taxi ($7 or $8 including tip). The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is on Highland Av, After you turn left onto Highland from Hollywood Bl, you%26#39;ll see the massive hotel on your left -- you can%26#39;t miss it.

You may not be aware that you can get off the Amtrak in Van Nuys (instead of Union Station). This will save you about an hour on the train and you will leave you only 4 miles farther away from your hotel!

Again, your options are:

1. A taxi: about $40 / 40 minutes (leaving you at your hotel at around 8:45 -- 15 minutes before the Amtrak pulls into Union Station).

2. By Bus

(I%26#39;m assuming that you%26#39;re departing from OAKLAND on the Coast Starline at 8:50 a.m. If so, you%26#39;ll pull into Van Nuys at 8:05 pm. If the train is on time, you%26#39;ll have 5 minutes to walk to the bus stop (a distance of 141 feet (less than 50 meters plus the time it takes to get out of the station). At 8:10 pm, ride the metro rapid #761 bus (marked ';Westwood';) from the corner of Van Nuys Bl %26amp; Keswick Street southbound (away from the station) for 9 minutes to the corner of Van Nuys Bl %26amp; Burbank Bl. (The fare is $1.25 per person).

You%26#39;ll arrive at the southwest corner. Cross to the southeast corner and transfer to the #156 bus (marked Santa Monica Highland) heading east on Burbank Bl, 12 minutes later. Pay $1,25 for this bus as well. Get off at 9:07 pm, at the corner of Highland Av %26amp; Camrose which is just 423 feet (130 m) north of your hotel (you%26#39;ll walk down a gentle slope to it). You should be at your hotel by 9:10 -- just 10 minutes after the Amtrak is scheduled to pull into Union Station.

Good luck!
