Hotels

I am looking at the Francisco Bay Inn at 1500 Lombard Street. There will be three of us staying. Arriving March 14 thru 17th. We were planning on getting up early on the 17th rent a car and drive to Yosemite, stay the night and the next day there, then returning to Frisco.

A couple of questions. Any thoughts on the hotel? Looks like we can get it for 72.00 a night. We really just want a clean place to sleep and shower and plan on spending all the time sight seeing.

I would like to stay inside Yosemite and it looks like it would be approx 200 for one night. Is it really worth it, to avoid the long drives into and out of the park each day, plus we would only pay 1 entrance fee. The hotels outside the park look like they would be atleast $100.

Thanks for any help. I have been to San Francisco before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway.

Any Ideas for other bargain hotels would be great. Preferably I thought it would be neat to stay in a neighborhood like north beach, but cant find any deals.

I assume you%26#39;ve already looked at the (mostly negative) reviews about the Francisco Bay Inn here on Tripadvisor? I think there are far better places to sleep in San Francisco. And the rate shown here is $172, not $72.

Look at the top rated hotels, then go down the list until you find one that fits your budget. The reviews I%26#39;ve found have been pretty accurate.

It%26#39;s up to you whether avoiding a long drive is worth an extra hundred dollars per night. Personally I don%26#39;t mind the drive into and out of Yosemite, as long as the traffic isn%26#39;t bad.

The 72.00 rate was thru orbitz or travelocity, some of the discount places. I would like to be near Little Italy which I think is the North Beach Area.

Any suggestions from anyone that has stayed ouside Yosemite.

We will be there around March 17 for one night. Do you know if this is still pretty well snow covered?

Also wanted to say thanks for the help.

For the North Beach area try the Columbus Motor Inn. This is in a nice area with trees on the street and three good breakfast places within a couple of blocks. Free parking. Walking distance to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf.

The rates start below $100.

We have stayed there and found it very comfortable.
