Yes. January thru March is prime whale watching season. We usually go out of San Pedro every year. Both SP and Redondo Beach are relatively close to Marina Del Rey. They would be better for viewing than MDR because there is a narrower strait between Catalina and the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and the whales tend to hug the coastline there. More often than not, we have seen whales. On those cruises where we didn%26#39;t, the ever present dolphins and scenery (especially out of SP) still make it worthwhile.

More than most activities, I would schedule this once you get here based on the weather. Weather is very changeable this time of year here, so one day might be cold and two days later it will be fabulous. Also, dress very warmly.
