San Francisco-San Luis-Obispo-Pacific Grove!

Hi,

Hubby and I are spending a month travelling California. I have thoroughly researched these area but if anyone is extremly familiar I would love help in planning an itineary for our visit to these places.

We%26#39;d love to see Morro Bay, Carmel,Monteray,17 mile drive, Sea lions, Hearst castle maybe and anything else that we shouldn%26#39;t miss. If that sounds way too hectic please tell me.

Ideally, I%26#39;d love sight seeing, strolling shops in towns and dinner at night. We%26#39;re not into hiking but we love animals but have seen enough zoos. I also like to book into my accomodation earlish i.e. not very late at night but if that makes an itineary difficult I can alter my routine.

Start of August

Leaving San Francisco Sat morn.

Stay Sat night in San Luis Obispo

Stay Sunday night in Pacific Grove.

Depart for Yoesimite Monday morn.

Hello! It%26#39;s about a 2 hour drive from Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo. If you%26#39;re there on a Thursday nite, you can go to the Farmer%26#39;s Market with music, restaurant food and fresh produce. Morro Bay has great views of the Rock and the beach north is a great walking beach. Hearst Castle is a 45 minute drive from Morro Bay. Allow at least two hours for one tour, and if you%26#39;ve never been there, Tour 1 is the best to give you a good sampling. Are you planning to stay at Asilomar in Pacific Grove?

It%26#39;s a pretty good clip you%26#39;re moving at, but do-able.

While you are in SLO try having a meal at the Madonna Inn,nice for a special meal,Hearst Castle should be booked in advance,it is superb!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advice. I%26#39;m now going to stay in Cambria and then either Pacific Grove or Carmel. Thanks a mill. Will look up your reccomendations. Maddonna Inn looks interesting but may have to bypass San Luis now due to time constraint! Sorry.

Carmel is lovely although we had heavy mist and low temperatures when we were there last August (drove out of Carmel into much higher temperatures and clear blue skies!). It is a great place to stay over, though - hope you have a great holiday! By the way, we also stayed in San Luis Obispo and LOVED it! The Farmers Market on a Thursday night is a great experience.

Since you are not into hiking, but love animals, I would stop at Point Lobos state park, which is just south of Carmel. The scenery is beautiful and you can see a lot without walking very far from the car. We routinely see sea otters, harbor seals, deer, and rabbits. And of course, plenty of sea birds. There are some neat tide pools there too that are easily accessible.
